The Big 350th….

Coming in June 2011 we’re going all-out to celebrate the 350th year of the Blake House–the oldest standing frame house in Boston. Home to many a Dorchester Ancestor, and Descendant too, spectacular jewel of Boston archaeology and history and part of the Dorchester Historical Society.

The Blake House ca. 1909 (postcard image)

This postcard of the Blake House from 1909 shows the house as it looked not long after it was moved and acquired by the Dorchester Historical Society.  It’s a grainy image, but interesting to compare to the current image from 2007.

The Blake House ca. 2007

This photograph of the Blake house from 2007 shows it with a beautiful new coat of wooden shakes (shingles), fresh from its renovation.  With the sun shining it looks like a new house–you’d never know it was nearly 350 years old…until you go inside…..
